How We Treat:

At Edgar Family Chiropractic, we tailor each treatment to your body and your needs. Our physiotherapist will perform a detailed history and physical examination and come up with a diagnosis and treatment plan that is tailored to each individual and their functional needs. Our therapists can also work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness and wellness-oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles. Maintaining and restoring maximum movement and functional ability is essential for overall wellness. These comprehensive treatments can last for 30-40 minutes and sometimes longer depending on the complexity of the condition that is being treated.

The following are examples of some of the many different treatment techniques our physiotherapists use at our Burlington Clinic:

Muscle Therapy

Our physiotherapists are trained in many different muscle techniques which they use in order to reduce pain, tension and strain in the muscles. This in turn helps our joints move better and we feel overall better. Some of the muscle therapy techniques we use include Active Release Technique, Trigger Point Therapy, and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitated Stretching (PNF) just to name a few.

Physiotherapy Modalities

Physiotherapy modalities such as electrical stimulation (like interferential current and TENS), ultrasound, heat and cold are used in our treatments to reduce inflammation in the injured tissues. These modalities help to increase blood flow to injured tissues and this is what helps to reduce inflammation and improve healing time. By reducing inflammation, we are also reducing pain.

Rehabilitation and Exercise Prescription

One of the most effective ways to reduce your chances of re-injury is by improving strength and flexibility in your muscles, tendons and ligaments. At our clinic, we create individual programs that address weaknesses or lack of flexibility and mobility in areas of the body and we work with you to improve these dysfunctions so that injuries do not come back.
